NEBULA VM Cluster Controller

The NEBULA VM Cluster Controller solution allows you to add available hardware as nodes to a cloud where they act together as a single source of computing power that can be distributed as needed.  When you require more processing and/or more virtual machines, it is as simple as plugging in another node.

No node OS or software setup is required - NEBULA Cluster Controller manages everything for you. The Cluster Controller also takes hardware problems out of the equation by automatically redistributing the load over the other nodes in the cloud if one node goes down.

The NEBULA Cluster Controller

  • The Cluster Controller manages your entire virtual ecosystem.
  • The Cluster Controller is supplied as a small, low-powered, solid state device, ready to deploy.
  • In automatic mode, the Cluster Controller monitors all nodes, allocating VM loads on a generic algorithm of lowest load first.
  • In advanced mode, the administrator assign the number of VM images to be loaded on the nodes to allow scaling of your cluster.
  • An optional fail-over controller can be implemented if required.

Nodes

  • A node is a server class computer that can be plugged into the cloud network at any time.
  • No setup or installation is needed on these nodes.
  • The Cluster Controller streams the NEBULA QVEx9 hypervisor to the node and makes it part of the cluster.

Load feedback

  • The Cluster Controller reports on the average load (CPU and RAM) of your cloud, as well as the individual load of each node.
  • If a cut-off value is reached, the administrator is notified and can add a new node to the cloud, or shut down some of the less important virtual machines until a new node can be added.

VM images

  • Backups of your virtual machines are stored as images and can immediately be restored if disaster strikes.

Network management

Added to the installation is an industry strength network management server to help you maintain the health of your network.
