NEBULA Network Management Server

Starship Systems offers a Network Mangement Server (NMS), built on the the industry's leading software, expanded and customized to take the effort out of managing your infrastructure.

Not only do developers and contractors need to know the “lay of the land” when introducing new servers, services or software into a company's IT eco system, but managers need to stay abreast with how their networks are put together, and what number they can put next to server reliability.

Introducing the NEBULA NMS server to your network will allow you to start understanding your network, as well as monitor and draw detailed reports on the vulnerabilities and reliability of your systems.  With constant auto-discovery of your network, the services available on each server or PC are recorded, giving you a perfect overview of the whole network environment.  System administrators come an go, but with the NEBULA Network Management Server, you will never be left out of the loop.

OpenNMS on USB

OpenNMS on a VM (Virtual Machine) can be used on all platforms.

We realize that a setting a server aside for network monitoring might not always be convenient.  Sometimes you just want to have a look at your network and machines connected on it to assess it.

For this reason, we made network management as easy as plugging a USB drive into your computer, and letting it discover your network via your computer for any and all machines connected, and services running on them.

Key features:

  • Network discovery – the NEBULA Network Management System will keep a detailed, constant watch over your network and report the layout to you.
  • Uptime and reliability monitoring – The NEBULA Network Management Server runs 24/7, keeping an eye on all systems and machines on your network and reports pro-actively on performance, down times and critical failures when about to happen.
  • dNMSj/Spy Client – distributed Network Management System Java is a tool that can be installed on all systems you need to closely monitor that does not have a SNMP (Simple Network Monitoring Protocol) process running.  It not only reports back any information you might want to monitor (free RAM, processes of daemons, free disk space) to the dNMSj Server, but can monitor running processes and restart the application if it crashes or quits unexpectedly.
  • dNMSj/Spy Server – the dNMSj/Spy Client monitors a number of system attributes, and reports them back to the the dNMSj/Spy Server.  With a single click, you can see the latest report, understanding more than the standard external protocol monitoring can tell you.
  • Built on OpenNMS – Taking the award winning OpenNMS as a base for development, we have a head start on any and all competitors offering network management.

How it works:

  • With the OpenNMS software installed on your USB hard drive, you can plug it into any MS Windows or LINUX machine and run the system.
Without any installation on your operating system, it will start the OpenNMS core, and gather the network information.
  • You can access the information and reports via your web browser.
  • When done, select shutdown and unmount/safely remove the USB hard drive.
  • The next time, you can opt to keep the captured information, or clear the database if you want to discover a new network.
